Artist's Statement

My love for drawing and painting began in childhood and led to early formal training and recognition. Later, I majored in fine art at Long Beach Community College and California State University, Long Beach, where I enjoyed meeting others who were also passionate about the arts. I have furthered my art education by attending additional classes and workshops. Presently, I reside with my husband in the beautiful wine country of Northern California where I spend much of my time painting.

I am a member of Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America and also have belonged to other art organizations. I have displayed my work at various solo and group exhibitions through which I have won numerous awards. Recently, one of my paintings was selected for the 2005 Oil Painters of America (OPA) National Juried Exhibition and another for the 2004 OPA Western Regional Exhibition.

In my paintings, I try to achieve depth and richness by enhancing the play of light and color and expressing the drama of strong contrast and subtle reflections. Through my art, I wish to inspire others with the beauty I see and enjoy.
